Hi Guys
Just a heads up about the Pidge Project I ve been involved with in the last few months courtesy of Niki Whitfield. 10 of these fab pidgeons [all now redecorated by local Artisans],that used to be on our signposts around town are being repurposed for an installation into Boots corner, but before they wing their way there they will be on show in the De Ferrieres Gallery above the Wilson Gallery Cafe. Do pop along tomorrow evening 7th March 6pm til 9pm for a drink and a look at the whole flock together. Us artists will be there to should you wish to meet us.
This is just an example of how the project starts with images and ideas in my sketchbook, where I try to match ideas with my brief and in this case think about how I get straight lines of buildings onto a spherical shape and how I marry scenes of Boots corner together as the bird is viewed from 360 degrees.
Below shows the final oil layer of paints and the family of colours that are mixed to make sure each colour relates to another.
I share my studio with my cat Mischief, she left the table having laid in cobalt blue oil paint that now matches her eyes.
Before transfering the local scene onto the ball of the sculpture I just felt I wanted to be clear about how I was going to break the space up. These are three little oil on board sketches.
So here is the finished piece dried and yacht varnished to protect it from the weather along with its copper wire name.
View to Marks and Spencer.
view of Boots, Blacks and Clarks
View up the side of Boots,Primark and on up to Cleeve hill.
Hope to see some of you tomorrow evening, its a great priviledge to be able to be involved with getting creative projects into public areas to enrich everyones enviroment
Much love everyone, hope to see some of you tomorrow....
